Why does Filipino media portray beauty as light-skinned and Asian-looking?

I’m sick of watching wowowee. I feel that this falsely represents the majority of Filipinos, forcing insecure women to buy skin-lightning creams. This sickens me. What are your opinions?

Light skin is a beauty/media standard in most countries…..including P.I…..heck even North America…sadly..
about the Asian-look your talking about….they’re trying to promote East-Asian stuff in P.I…what they do is they play east-asian dramas (Korean, Chinese etc.) in P.I. and they get a lot of Fili-Chinese/ Fili-Korean actors and actresses…and they get major roles…..it’s funny because real Filipinos don’t even look like them….what’s also funny too is that darker skinned Filipinos are 100x better looking than them….P.I. media love anything imported…sad reality…
I honestly think the best looking girls are darker skin asians with thick lips. Honestly they are the best!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And I guess most people like lite skin.
I think just about most nationalies media portrays light skinned people as the most beautiful ones. It is sad.
of course it doesnt represent the average filipino, thats the whole point. the shows want good-looking people that stand out, not ordinary or ugly people and in asia, the light-skinned people are most attractive because they are seen as higher-class and its just ingrained in the asian mentality. and no one forces women to buy anything. should all the good looking people be shunned from entertainment or from going out in public for fear that other uglier people will feel inadequate? no, thats ridiculous
This is nothing new. It’s always been like that. If you’re tall and light skin you get anywhere. Here in US we spent a lot of $$$ to get darker skin. It looks good and healthier when your tan. Most countries darker skin is beautiful!
hi! its so annoying when i go to asia and hear relatives telling me to get this whitening lotion and that whitening cream, i use to care but not anymore! i play tennis competively
and i play generally 5 hours a day, i don’t care if im dark, why should i have to hide out in my room to avoid the sun for a beauty fad?i live i florida and i will go to the beach,play watersports
and play in the sun all day if i like so there vietnam haha besides in america usually tan= more class bc u have more freetime and can go boating, or do watersports or sports in general!:)
