Yeah, some people hate it.. I’ve seen some of the comments.
I like it, always have always will.
Most detractors of the show just cannot see past the "immorality" of having scantily-clad women dancing provocatively. Morals are a relative thing. I personally consider a very pious pinoy who hypocritically ignores the plight of the poor as a much much greater sinner than a sexy girl prancing around on a stage for a few pesos a day.
There are also others who think that the show promotes a welfare mentality among the poor, but that mentality has been around long before Wowowee. The show just brings it to the forefront for all to see; and I suspect that’s the real reason they wish for the show to go away–to continue protecting a image of the country that is not based on reality.
I hate the dancers there. They’re so "mahalay" provoking some kinds of evil from men’s brains.
Their generosity is good but it just lets people just depend on luck like this without hard work.. The Philippines can’t be like this all the time.
I like the show and I do think it is entertaining.
I don’ t find the dancers that provocative at all. The cameraman should stop zooming in and out all the time—that’s the main thing that annoys me.
Willie can be a little bit overbearing especially when he has a contestant who is on the verge of crying– Willie makes sure that he/she will. I am not sure if he does it to get more sympathy from the audience so that they donate some money to the person or whether he has a mean streak.
I suppose it is easy to say "it’s better to work hard than to get the money from welfare" when you are employed but one reason the poor are poor is because they cannot find enough work to sustain themselves and their family.
Through WOWOWEE ABS-CBN raises a lot of money that is used not only to help the poor but to also help people affected by natural disasters.
WELL if I may borrow your line "I personally consider a very pious pinoy who hypocritically ignores the plight of the poor as a much much greater sinner than a sexy girl prancing around on a stage for a few pesos a day." very, very true.
When I first started going to the Phils I would give some money to some beggars but after a while I stopped simply because I noticed that their own people wouldn’t help.
it’s entertainment.
they’re helping people and making people laugh.
i don’t really know the format of the show because I’ve never seen an episode of it.
honestly, i don’t like this show, or any other tfc ect. shows with half naked women dancing around on it. there was a video of this on youtube, and everyone kept saying they were proud of the video. all i could think is, you’re all proud that half naked women are dancing around on a family tv show?
it’s degrading.
All i can say is for they to continue their help to the victims of the Ultra Stampede.. It may not be their fault, but it is still their responsibility.
No not really, although those dancers can be a distraction at times.
But I think, what is really important is helping the poor.
Well if you are a Kapuso fan, then it is acceptable. Since, many people are into ratings. I would not be surprised if they say that Wowowee sucks. But, I’m not saying all Kapuso fans hate the show. There are just some. After all, maybe they don’t care about the ratings war, maybe they just don’t like it.
Preference and taste can never be fought over with because no one will win. Different people have different likes and dislikes.
It’s just too much for me. Not my type.
I don’t like it. Aside from the cheap dances which exploits our Filipinas. I think it exploits the idea of helping the poor. How much do you think they get in return for the money they dole out? I got to see the show once and I felt disgusted by the fact that they let contestants do those degrading dances and such all for money.
There are always ways to be entertaining, not at the expense of those people, who they make fun of, who go there hoping to get some money. Just look at what the studio did during that stampede and how much actually went to the victims? Apart from that ABS is a big organization, why did they scrimp on security for that event especially when they know how masses like that are?
Apart from that, I don’t think it is setting a good precedence for Filipinos that these type of shows is a good way to earn money.
I love wowowee. In fact,i watch it everyday. But i guess it’s already promoting the culture of mendicancy in a modern way.I also hate it when Willie make fun of the contestant’s looks, manner of speaking and many others and also when he bashed on gay contestants. I also hate it when the contestants try hard to look really "kawawa" to earn the audience sympathy and finally get some dollars.
i dont like this show. i hate the dancers, i hate willie, i hate how some people would just cry all of a sudden to get sympathy and yet i dont see the sincerity in willie’s face. well, that’s just me…an opinion is an opinion
i think the title of the show came from the channel called WoWoW… lol….
Some of their routines don’t make any sense to me – such as the dancers.
I do not watch the show. I am an avid Eat Bulaga fan.
it’s just entertainment. women dancing have been a part of filipino noon time shows for many years (remember the solid gold dancers?). the only difference now is the girls are younger, prettier, of lighter complexion. and they all seem to look alike. they are not the highlight of the show. now imagine taking the dancers out, the female hosts, the silly "do do do, da da da" dance they have the audience do, take the talent part out of the contestants, even take willy out and what have we got left? MONEY. money that help out SOOO much more than any of us can ever imagine. the simple "humiliation" they endure from people laughing at them is nothing compared to any amount of money they receive to help their families.
besides, with this show, we get to hear their stories. we can somehow try to understand what kind of lives they live in our own country. these are the kinds of things we hardly ever hear from the media. someone somewhere might be inspired to do something to help our people. that’s a lot more than what the government can speak for.
a show like wowowee, aside from willy’s jokes and comments and the dancers, gives hope to the poor that there are people out there who care enough to help. it’s simple entertainment that gives back more than it takes.
Same thing every show. At least it’s not a copy cat like every other Filipino show..
worst show on the planet it’s so fu**ing stupid hep hep hooray crappy dancing bad singing stupid annoying sad stories which i wouldn’t give a damn got this show is so stupid peace wowowee wanka
